About

currently

I was hired as a developer at Mission Research in May, 2006. My first project was assisting with the development effort for Volunteers, the first GiftWorks Addin. I am excited about helping non-profits by continuing the development of GiftWorks.

R.R. Donnelley & Sons (1989-2003)

I was employed by R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Lancaster, PA for almost 15 years. For the first 5 years, I worked for the Information Technology department in their Commercial Printing division. I was responsible for the support, development and maintenance of internal applications to support the manufacturing process for catalogs, directories, magazines and tabloids, primarily using RPG and COBOL on the IBM AS/400 and System 38.

For the next 10 years, I worked for the Financial Business Unit supporting the development and implementation of an Order Entry and Inventory Management System for the Financial and Healthcare industries on the IBM AS/400. Over the last several years, I was involved in several initiatives to put a web front-end on the applications, using Microsoft web technologies.

college (1982-1986)

I attended Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, VA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Processing. Originally, I planned to pursue a career in Research Psychology or Counseling. Shortly after college, I landed at a small company in Harrisonburg developing administrative software for small colleges on the IBM Midrange family of computers. I have been working in Information Technology ever since.

personal

I grew up in Strasburg, PA with my parents Ivan and Mary Ellen and my older brother David and sister Deb. My parents were missionaries in Somalia until I was 4 years old. My father was a family doctor with a practice near Smoketown, PA. My first jobs were delivering papers and baking bread. I met my wife in college at Eastern Mennonite College. She is my best friend. We have three boys, Benjamin (16), Zachary (14) and Nicholas(12). There is a lot of energy in our house. Life is busy but I have much to be thankful for.
